Before commencing her degree she spent two years studying to gain a National Diploma in Design and Display at Gloucestershire College of Art and Technology
As an Associate of the British Interior Design Association she is constantly involved in continuing development programmes that keep her up to date on current trends and techniques.
Polly is passionate about all design, on a personal level she prefers contemporary minimalism, clutter free environments with clever twists of homely comfort is an ideal often explored and requested by her clients. However having grown up in the Cotswolds and attending school in the Regency style buildings of Cheltenham she is no stranger to and has a real empathy for traditional and Classical styles of Interior Design. She loves mixing reclaimed items with modern settings to create eclectic interest. A wealth of antique dealerships and reclamation yards are conveniently local to her. All projects are embraced with the same energy and enthusiasm to inspire the client to realise their personal Interior Design Goals.
Polly’s Design philosophy is to explore, stretch and ultimately create her clients’ dream environments.
Being computer literate she is fully able to keep in constant contact with busy individuals so they can actively participate from a distance yet rely on her to organise and meet with contractors.
Believing that a person’s home should be an extension of their personality Polly finds it easy to establish the essential rapport that is needed between clients and Interior Designers, being naturally outgoing friendly and considerate this trust she ascertains enables her to inspire and stretch her clients design ideals to full potential surpassing their original expectations.
Polly’s Design Influences..?
In an interview with Concept for Living Magazine earlier this year Polly replies, “Everyday life! There is always some little gem of genius around the corner and quite possibly in the most unlikely of places. Being a designer is really about keeping your eyes and ears open the whole time, especially when traveling. I love the idea of recycling items too, odd shaped antique bottles for vases set against a neutral washed wall. If you love an item it should be on display and in such a way as to draw attention to it. I also love the work of Carlo Scarpa who never tried to mimic the past by imitation instead enhancing it by the use of contrast. Although I do feel the restoration of period features is important in the right circumstances, just don’t be bound by the period of your home, modern pieces can be just as stunning against a period backdrop.” |
